Nikol Officially Live
And so, it begins anew! Our next production, “Nikol”, has officially gone live with its fundraising process as we begin trying to find the money to produce the first Nightowl Pictures feature. You can check out the whole thing at Nikol’s Facebook Page, the Nikol website, or Nikol’s IndieGoGo campaign!
This production is going to take a grassroots, community effort to get off...
Updates, Releases and What-not
Here we are again, two-thirds through the great month of October. Due to completion on my upcoming short film Exposure practically taking over my life, there has been very little to update on the site. My apologies. However, between scheduling ADR sessions and compositing goat eyes onto lead actors, I’ve gotten a bit of online presence work done!
First off, we have the official online release...
“From the Archives” and “Behind the Scenes”
We’ve added two new small features to the Nightowl Pictures website: “From the Archives” and “Behind the Scenes“, both located under the “Film Work” tab on the navigation bar.
For “From the Archives” we’ll be remastering and uploading some of our earlier work, whether it be a student film or festival material. We believe that every artist...
Site Update: Changes Galore
From that most wonderful of malevolent AIs, “Well, here we are again, it’s always such a pleasure.” The Nightowl Pictures website has had a slight overhaul. Most of you probably won’t notice the updates, but I’ll catalog them here, just in case.
First off, we’ve gone ahead and placed some SSL scripts on the site, to be implemented soon. One can’t be too careful...
Final Thoughts on Final Cut Pro X
Three days later. It feels like a millennia.
I’ve been considering how I could possibly word my next post relating to Final Cut Pro X, Apple’s “update” to Final Cut Pro 7 (though it has been pointed out that this is not an update, but rather, a whole new program). Originally, I was going to make a post relating my initial reactions. That was Day 1, where I was unable to even...
Final Cut Pro X: Day 1
Day One. It finally came out. The single most talked about piece of software in the professional film and video community this year. After the demonstration at NAB, anyone and everyone (film and video related, my wife doesn’t care) was talking about it: Would Final Cut Pro X be the great new editing system to end all editing systems, or would it be iMoviePro? Well, I, being the constant early...
Festival Report: Filmmakers’ Showcase; Exit Interview Wins Award
Exit Interview is now the proud winner of a film festival!
Last night Patrick Keenan, Donald Wells and I attended the Light Factory Filmmakers’ Showcase at Butter right here in Charlotte. It blew away my expectations.
The film lineup was strong, one of the strongest I’ve ever seen for a collection of short films. Nothing felt like filler to me. I only wish that I could’ve attended...
The West Coast Advantage
Recently I made the move from Charlotte to sunny Los Angeles in an attempt to garner more work and live in the land of milk and honey. While there’s lots of honey and all the milk is organic, there are some definite advantages and disadvantages to being in the biggest movie center of the world (unless India has beaten us with Bollywood).
Within a week of being in LA I was shaking hands with television...
